Isaiah 42:21

יְהוָה חָפֵץ לְמַעַן צִדְקוֹ יַגְדִּיל תּוֹרָה וְיַאְדִּיר׃

21 The LORD was pleased for the sake of his righteousness, He will magnify his law and make it glorious.

יְהוָה חָפֵץ לְמַעַן צִדְקוֹ The LORD was pleased for the sake of his righteousness, חָפֵץ is a qal perfect stative verb of the e-class (Weingreen p. 95-96). The basic meaning of צַדִּיק is "the ethical, moral standard... the nature and the will of God" (Th. Wordbook of the OT).

יַגְדִּיל תּוֹרָה וְיַאְדִּיר He will magnify his law and make it glorious. יַגְדִּיל hifil imperfect, followed by וְיַאְדִּיר hifil waw-imperfect; the two words are not consecutives and so can be taken as separate actions rather than a combined or continuous action. The Isaiah Scroll has ויאדירה, prob. וְיַאֲדִּירֶהָ (pronominal suffix, 3rd fem sg.) in the same pattern as וְיִקְטְלֶ֫הָ (qal), hifil: וְיַקְטִילֶ֫הָ (cp. Weingreen p. 256). The glory of the Law of God is proclaimed throughout Psalm 119 and in many other places, including John 17:17.
