Isaiah 41:20

לְמַעַן יִרְאוּ וְיֵדְעוּ וְיָשִׂימוּ וְיַשְׂכִּילוּ יַחְדָּו כִּי יַד־יְהוָה עָשְׂתָה זֹּאת וּקְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרָאָהּ׃

20 In order that they may see and know; they will pay attention and understand together, that the hand of the LORD has done this. The holy one of Israel has created it.

לְמַעַן יִרְאוּ וְיֵדְעוּ In order that they may see and know; The s-shaped accent beneath לְמַעַן is darga, a fairly weak conjunctive accent that normally serves tebir (as in 39:6; here it serves rebi). יִרְאוּ is a qal imperfect from רָאָה "see." Here the form is jussive, as is וְיֵדְעוּ, "that they may see and know." An Mp note tells us that וְיֵדְעוּ occurs eleven times (Mm 1625: 1 Sam 17:46; 17:47; 1 Kings 18:37; 2 Kings 19:19; Isaiah 37:20; 19:12; 41:20; Psalm 59:14; 83:19; 109:27 and 2 Chron. 12:8).

וְיָשִׂימוּ וְיַשְׂכִּילוּ יַחְדָּו they will pay attention and understand together, וְיָשִׂימוּ is a qal imperfect (3rd plural) of שִׂים "put, place." We have to supply something like "their minds" here, but in parallel with וְיַשְׂכִּילוּ (hifil imf) "understand," the meaning is clear enough. The Mp notes says that the form וְיָשִׂימוּ occurs three times: 1 Kg 18:23; Isa. 41:20; Psalm 78:7.

כִּי יַד־יְהוָה עָשְׂתָה זֹּאת that the hand of the LORD has done this. Munah once again connects two very closely associated words: עָשְׂתָה זֹּאת "(he) has done this." Munah especially connects words in a genitive relationship, but here is a good example of the connection of verb and object were a verbal suffix would have served the same thought. The identical phrase occurs in Job 12:9;

וּקְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּרָאָהּ The holy one of Israel has created it. בְּרָאָהּ is a qal perfect 3 ms sg from בָּרָה, "create." An Mp note tells us that וּקְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל "and the Holy one of Israel" occurs just twice, here and in Psalm 78:41. Another note says that בְּרָאָהּ occurs twice as well with the 3rd. fem. sg. suffix, here and in Isaiah 45:18, where there is no dagesh lene in the beth.
